For The Memories
|
I believe you from the day we first met
You never knew it, never really cared
It was destiny unexpected
It didn’t give time to prepare
I never thought I could love you this much
Nor will I love another this strong
I’ve given my all- body and soul
Left nothing to call my own
Love, double-crossing love
Making promises unkept
Butterfly kisses without feeling
Thinking of another, eyes a-wandering
Shall I trust you still?
Or will I follow my will
To look for the man I truly deserve
And who deserves me as well?
Shall one risk loving when it causes the greatest pain of all?
Will he continue loving when rejection comes in the end?
Will I still love you when there’s been another?
I don’t know, nor will I want to know.
Would you look at me still
When all my hairs turn gray
Or my eyes go blind
And the stars’ radiance fade?
Would you still hold my hands
When they’d be clammy and bony
Or arthritis plagues them
And renders them immobile?
Would you run your fingers
On my dry, wrinkled skin
With never a word of mockery
To ridicule my beauty’s state?
Oh, love, would you, could you
With all the love you had
From years ago, to take me
In your arms as you did
When you became my man?
To say you will is ecstasy unbound
An overwhelming joy of heart
Please tell me, love, you’ll do
Stay until my life is through.
To love you is life itself
To have not known you is death unprepared.
I would never tire of you
Because my love transcends time
Not even if the heavens burst
Not even if we both go blind.
I would hold you close forever
Closer still within my heart
We’ll always stay beside each other
No sorrow or sickness would keep us apart.
I’d love you all through life and beyond
And age shall never dull my passion
Though my tears turn to dust with the passing years
It’s you I’d still long to look upon.
I don’t want to fail you
I don’t want to be without you
Please be my strength
Please don’t give up on me.
My one true happiness
The only light of my world
My innocence and my hope
I am yours alone.
Every important thing I know, I learned because you loved me,
Without you I am lost, and tomorrow will never come.
